Artist Statement

As a girl, I have observed and been immensely shaped by the journey of adolescence. I call this body of work Lo Sturpo, which in Italian means “the rape”, commenting on the little girl’s coming-of-age process. I found that my quest into adulthood was also experiencing moments of spiritual rape against my childlike enthusiasm. By turning my journey of female adolescence into a world of its own, I speak as a storyteller: the heroines and stories that I present are avatars of a very sensitive and vulnerable part of myself.
