My artwork focuses primarily on myself and my character, Anne. She has featured frequently in my pieces since the second semester of my eleventh grade. Almost all of my works tell a story, and Anne typically serves as a sort of alter ego for me; unlike conventional characters, she lacks a defined narrative arc, appearing instead in a fragmented manner, with her physical appearance undergoing varying degrees of transformation.
My pieces typically draw upon my personal experiences and daily life; in this context, comics serve as an excellent narrative tool. During the creative process, I record spontaneous ideas in my sketchbook, then select from them to craft stories and compile them into comics. With the completion of each piece, I gain a clearer understanding of my own identity.
When it comes to ceramics, I really enjoy the hands-on process of constructing three-dimensional sculptures. Compared to painting, ceramics possess a richer texture and a stronger physical presence; it allows me to engage senses beyond the visual—specifically touch and hearing. Furthermore, I have a keen interest in studying glazes; I maintain a collection of test tiles to experiment with the results of various chemical reactions. A proficient command of glazing techniques gives me greater mastery over my work, enabling me to apply the precise glaze needed to achieve the desired textures and colors whenever necessary.
