Through my artwork, I want to share warmth with everyone and for them to feel loved by someone they miss. I want to connect with those who surround me like a thread draped over each one of us, intertwining all of us to be one. As we move forward, we connect and grow with others and create a strong foundation built upon our memories and conversations that we have made along the way.
My work uses multiple media—painting, ceramics, and collected tea bags—often incorporating fabrics, string, and stitching to create pieces that extend beyond traditional boundaries and engage with those who surround them. Like lace, my work is fragile and delicate, interwoven together across generations, covering the spaces where things are missing and connecting us.
For my paintings, I start with inspiration photos, often taken by me. I build layers beginning with a grisaille underpainting, then add color and detail before stitching fabric onto the surface. In ceramics, I sketch first, then experiment with construction methods, treating the bisqueware as a canvas for painting. My tea bag pieces follow a different process entirely—I save tea bags I've used, rehydrate them in the studio, and carefully remove the leaves without tearing the delicate paper. Then I sew them onto surfaces or stitch them together, creating connections from what might otherwise be discarded.
Through these processes of layering, stitching, and connecting, I create work that holds memory and warmth, inviting viewers to feel the threads that bind us all together.
